Activities in and Around the Niger River
The Niger traverses virtually all of the vegetational zones of western Africa. In this river, many varieties of fish are found such as the catfish and carp. You can also find a rich collection of birds including the heron, stork, goose, and egret on the river and around the lakes. In this area, you may also be able to see hippopotamuses, different types of crocodiles including the much feared Nile crocodile and a variety of lizards.
Some great recreational activities on this tour will be bird watching. The fauna around the Niger River is remarkable. There are 530 species and counting, this area does not hide its birds. This mosque is located in the city of Djenne, Mali. As well as being the centre of the community of Djenne, it is also one of the most famous landmarks in Africa. In this tour, you will see the tomb of a young lady walled up for the future prosperity of the town and explore the mindset of people a long time ago in that very town.
